As much as I like living in South Carolina, I don't consider myself a South Carolinian. I'm an Alabamian, and I always will be. Sweet home Alabama, baby! However, Washington also has a special place in my heart. Or rather, a special someone in Washington has my heart. That's why when I saw these pins, I wanted to make my own version.
I went to yellowmaps.com to print out the pictures. Then I just cut out the states, stuck them inside some frames and voila, free art that means something to me!
In the center frame, I printed out a line from Plain White T's song Hey There Delilah.
A thousand miles seems pretty far
But they've got planes and trains and cars
I'd walk to you if I had no other way
Our friends would all make fun of us
And we'll just laugh along because we know
That none of them have felt this way
What's great about this project is that the whole thing was free. I mentioned the other day that I was over the scrapbook paper hanging above my bed so I took that down but used the frames for this. I just used plain old computer printer paper to print everything on. And, although I should have a mat in there, I just put it in there against the cardboard that is that back of the frame.
I really wasn't sure if I would like how it actually turned out, so I didn't put a ton of effort into it. But since I like it, I might actually frame everything correctly later on! If it stays above my bed, I definitely want something besides black as the background. But it might end up in the living room somewhere, in which case black would be fine. We'll see!
